We offer these apprenticeships:

Construction mechanic

In this 3½-year apprenticeship at ALHO, you will learn all the important metalworking techniques, welding processes and how to work with technical drawings. In the first year, you will work with different materials, manufacture components and weld your first constructions.

From the second year onwards, you will deepen your knowledge directly in production. Your main task will be the precise realisation of complex technical drawings, for which manual dexterity, spatial thinking, quick comprehension and patience are important. Good knowledge of maths and physics and at least an intermediate school-leaving certificate are an advantage.

Warehouse logistics specialist

Training as a warehouse logistics specialist normally takes 3 years. During this time, you will accept and check goods and store them in compliance with various storage conditions.

You will also load goods onto lorries and learn how to operate forklift trucks. Therefore, qualities such as spatial awareness, certain organisational skills, a high sense of responsibility and physical resilience are very important. Knowledge of maths and English - in case the supplier does not speak German - can also be an advantage. The prerequisite is vocational maturity.

Office management assistant

The dual training programme at ALHO usually lasts 3 years and can be shortened to 2.5 years if you perform very well. You spend a few days a week at the company and the rest at vocational school, working in a fixed department from the start and familiarising yourself with all the processes there.

From the second year onwards, you will specialise in optional qualifications. Your tasks will mainly include organisational activities such as telephone and PC work, processing orders and enquiries, organising appointments and meetings, materials management and company-specific tasks. An intermediate school-leaving certificate, strong communication skills and a meticulous approach to work are an advantage.

Industrial clerk

Training as an industrial clerk at ALHO usually takes 3 years, but can be shortened to 2.5 years if you perform very well. You will regularly rotate through various departments and thus gain a comprehensive insight into all commercial company processes - from material procurement and quotation calculation to invoice processing and direct customer contact. You will work closely with internal and external partners and will be optimally prepared for the final examination.

As a communicative organisational talent, you will take on a central interface function in the company, work responsibly, be self-organised and enjoy dealing with people. A vocational baccalaureate or high school diploma is an advantage.

Professions in the IT sector

ALHO offers three apprenticeships in the IT sector: IT specialist for system integration, IT specialist for application development and IT specialist for digitalisation management. The apprenticeship usually lasts 3 years, but can be shortened to 2.5 years if you perform very well.

IT specialists for system integration install and support IT systems for users, solve technical problems and provide support with questions. IT specialists for application development develop, install and maintain software, adapt programs to company requirements and optimise internal IT processes. Digitalisation management specialists analyse and design business processes with IT solutions and combine technical knowledge with a business perspective. For all three professions, an interest in IT, a good understanding of maths, analytical thinking, strong communication skills and a university entrance qualification or A-levels are an advantage.

Professions in the field of marketing

ALHO offers two apprenticeships in the field of marketing: Marketing Communications Specialist and Digital and Print Media Specialist. Both apprenticeships generally last 3 years and can be shortened to 2.5 years if you perform very well.

Marketing communication clerks take on the organisational and conceptual part, e.g. create mailings and organise trade fairs and events. Digital and print media specialists creatively implement planned advertising measures - from image processing to the production of print products. A communicative manner and a high level of creativity are particularly important for both professions.

Draughtsman/-within structural engineering

Training as a draughtsman/ draughtswoman specialising in structural engineering usually takes 3 years and can be shortened to 2.5 years if you perform very well. You will create construction drawings using specialist calculations and CAD programmes, actively participate in construction processes and create building application documents.

Important prerequisites are spatial awareness, an interest in architecture and construction, confidence in using computers and the ability to work accurately and reliably. The ability to work in a team, good maths skills and ideally a technical college entrance qualification or A-levels round off your profile.

Dual study programme in civil engineering

With this dual study model, you combine an apprenticeship with a Bachelor's degree programme. The first two semesters are extended to four semesters, resulting in a standard period of study of eight semesters. During the first four semesters, you will spend two to three days a week at the University of Siegen and the remaining days in the company or at vocational school. After three years, you will complete your training with an examination, after which you will study regularly at the university and work in the company during the semester breaks. During the entire period of study, you will receive a salary and be exempted from examinations.

You will need ambition, perseverance, an interest in drawing and engineering and a general higher education entrance qualification. A good knowledge of maths and physics is desirable and will make your studies easier.
